Here in our immediate neighborhood, but also out as far as the distant pilgrimage basilica itself, we are regarded as the embodiment of stylish hospitality.
The original house, a farm dating back to the 16th century, once belonged to the man who began the Plain pilgrimages, nobleman Baron Rudolf von Grimming. Since that time – 1652 – it has been dedicated to providing pilgrims with a place of refreshment and lodging.
All the way back in 1654, the Mosshammers were listed as the resident innkeepers, while today’s tradition-rich establishment is now run by the 15th generation of the family.
Since 1854, the adjacent “Binderhaus” and, since 1880, the Gutshof Lochen, which is still a working farm, have also been a part of the business. We also operate our own butcher’s shop.
And so we believe that, with our very comfortable 28 rooms, 5 apartments (all with bath/WC/TV, telephone, Internet access and some with balcony), our very warm and hospitable guest lounges and stylish dining halls, the incomparable guest garden with its chestnut trees, and our delicious cooking with a renowned preference for a wide selection of regional dishes, we are able to offer the harmony which you might well have been looking for all your life.
Can you imagine simply kicking back on the terrace, dining with your beloved friends and acquaintances, enjoying a beautiful summer’s evening with views of the festival city and mountains?
Imagine – taking a stroll through the city, having a business meeting, visiting the trade show, or taking a beautiful tour of the lakes of the Salzkammergut – then returning happy, yet in need of some peace and quiet, to your “home” here in Plain!
We make every effort to ensure your stay in our hotel is as wonderful and as pleasant as can be.
We look forward to welcoming you here soon!
Your hosts, the Mosshammer Family
